TELLUS

TELLUS draws its inspiration from the many courageous women in Dickson’s life; their influences, the role they play in our society, as well as personal moments in the company of mothers.

The piece will also explore the folklore stories of Mami Water a mythical African deity living in oceans and rivers and known as the spirit of water in many African and North American cultures. Considered the life source of beauty, power, care, and love, simultaneously her malign capacity can lead to wrath, violence, and destruction.

This duality can be observed in the way Mother Earth has endured the human race, and her capacity to respond to us with infinite abundance and merciless destruction. TELLUS is an attempt to express our appreciation for our mothers and the earth that sustains us all. We hope it can also offer an apology for the destruction we have inflicted and continue to cause.

Following the success of ENOWATE, we are confident in the international appeal of Dickson’s work and its ability to connect with audiences globally. We can offer prospective partners a journey with the company, introducing the company’s work through the presentation of ENOWATE followed by a commissioning/development partnership for TELLUS and culminating in the work’s presentation following its premiere in 2025.

We seek long-term collaborative relationships with programmers and organisations interested in innovative and arresting work of scale.
