MA VIE

Ma Vie explores Giacomo Casanova's thirst for love, his complex relationship with the church and his eventual downfall as written in his infamous memoir 'Histoire de ma vie'.

MA VIE was a commission by the previous Northern Ballet Artistic Director David Nixon, in response to the ballet Cassanova for Northern Ballet's Digital Dance Platform. The creative process was playful and positive for both the company and Dickson. So they decided to rework the piece for the stage in a new, epic exploration of the life of history's most notorious lothario Giacomo Casanova.

It premiered at the Leeds Playhouse and the Linbury Theatre in London as part of our mixed program Made in Leeds: Three Short Ballets.

"It is not a matter of coincidence that Mbi is guided by Farooq Chaudhry, the same producer behind Akram Khan’s groundbreaking work for ENB. Now with Mbi as another major force, he is blowing the cobwebs away from ballet’s fusty image and bringing a much-needed new generation to the audience."
